NaNoWriMo 2017: The Mid-Nano Slump

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! Meh. Soo I was on a roll... and now I'm not - at least not on what I'm supposed to be doing. Ain't that always how it goes? As soon as I commit to one project, another one starts grabbing all my attention like a jealous sibling. I swear, if these characters don't start sticking in their own lanes I'm going to be forced to write a large scale massacre scene until they decide to behave again. Or maybe just for funsies, 'cause I'm really tired and it sounds like a slightly entertaining thing to do... *sigh* But, I digress. Where I am making a nice bit of progress on another, unnamed project - Firechild has had a bit of a hiccup. Also, my Nano-Word-Meter on the sidebar of the b

NaNoWriMo 2017: Firechild Teaser #3

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! Back for the conclusion of Firechild Chapter One, I hope? Humor me? Authors may have thick skins, but that's only cause our egos are so very, very fragile - like a firework coated with a layer of hardened glass in some cases. I can't properly expresses how insanely I'm laughing after typing that last sentence. It's embarrassing, really... So, here's the Third Part of Chapter One: (the completed chapter is really long, so I split it into parts. You can read Part I HERE.) FIRECHILD - Chapter One: Part III “It doesn’t bother you? Being married off for a sum of gold, or some political alliance to secure trade routes, or—” Kailet sat up fully, placing both of her hands over his

NaNoWriMo 2017: Firechild Teaser #2

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! I didn't post the second part yesterday because I got butt-hurt almost nobody bothered to read Part I. (Particularly after I worked so hard on making it "presentable" for blog consumption; taking time out of my Nano writing to do so...) I'm over it now. We're all allowed to vent furiously over what feels like futility from time to time. I had my tantrum and I'm back to not really giving a fuck. *wink* So, here's the Second Part of Chapter One- a day late: (the completed chapter is really long, so I split it into parts. You can read Part I HERE.) FIRECHILD - Chapter One: Part II He squinted his eyes, trying to adjust them to the darkness of the passageway. The young prince h

NaNoWriMo 2017: Firechild Teaser #1

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! I can't believe I've never done a Firechild teaser on the blog before... that can't be right! I'm going to have to go back into the archives to check... To be sure, I did put a handful of scenes from a previous (and only slightly altered) version up on Wattpad a few years ago, when my indie publishing expedition first began... but that doesn't really count. Hmmm, where to start? The beginning, obviously... Here's a hefty serving of Chapter One as it currently stands: (the completed chapter is really long, so I'll post the second part tomorrow) FIRECHILD - Chapter One: Part I Kailet shifted in her seat on the carved stone bench lined with pillows, her mind wandering restless

NaNoWriMo 2017: The Post-Weekend Update... of DOOM!

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! Let me just clarify - the DOOM is on you, not me. I'm happily typing myself into a delirious frenzy, whereas you are now doomed to countless posts about Firechild for the foreseeable future. Muahaha! Unlike my last blog post, today I WILL be getting down with the "Here ye' here ye'! I wroteth this many scribbblings this day" nonsense. (I don't know, I'm tired. Just laugh and nod your head to humor me, m'kay. I've expended a lot of creative juices this morning and I need to refill the well.) Tomorrow I'll do something more fun - like an excerpt. I like doing those anyway... stories have always been easier for me to share than most of my other thoughts. As for my progress upd

NaNoWriMo 2017: 5 Random Facts about Firechild that have Nothing to do with The Story

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! Don't worry, I won't be posting EVERY day - like tomorrow... I will not be posting tomorrow. I have to work at my other job, and then I will be spending the remainder of my weekend with family. That kind of stuff is important too. So, in order not to bore the crap out of us both, I decided to mix it up today. Rather than do just another "Nano update / I wrote these many words blah blah" post, I thought I'd give you all a bit about the long and odd journey writing this book has taken me on. For Day Three I present to you: 5 Random Facts about Firechild that have Nothing to do with The Story 1 - The flame-licked title above was my "placeholder" cover that I made for Firechild

NaNoWriMo 2017: Crawling into starting position

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! Considering that Day One started out with me floundering around on 4 broken hours of sleep, I think my grueling and off-handed start to NaNoWriMo was wholly predictable ('specially for me, because I'm already a known procrastinator unless I'm feeling inspired. Yes, I own it. Also, sorry. Truly. I try my best. This is why I do things like this to myself; to force me to try harder and do better.) *clears throat loudly* Anyway, as expected I started off clumsily and in somewhat of a daze, mostly due to the lack of sleep and pounding headache making me dizzy as all Hades with a hangover (and no, I wasn't drinking... unfortunately. At least then I'd have a valid reason for feeli

Everyn tackles NaNoWriMo 2017

NaNoWriMo 2017!!! This is the story all about how I suffered horrible insomnia one night (last night), thinking about the million things I wanted to do this year and failed to accomplish as of yet, for various reasons, (one of which is how overwhelmed I feel whenever I think about the sheer amount of shit I have waiting to get done,) and decided unexpectedly to toss all that stressful crap out the window for the next month to JUST WRITE. I was able to write an incredible amount of new work in 2016, but for some reason this year has been rather dry on the inspirational end. Mostly, all I've done is plan, outline and edit with a few false project starts and getting nothing significant down on
